Human behavior in groups is depressing. The way our petty politics plays out. Particularly where I live. People take great delight in stabbing one another in the back while maintaining a false geniality. A special sort of seething disgust and ice is reserved for those of us who can see through their manipulations. Oddly those of us who are genuinely trying to be nice get attacked sometimes by mistake as we are confused at times for the former or thought to be "suckers"; Some of us do not feel like behaving as a dirtbag all the time and in every situation.
We don’t just not discourage people from being assholes, we actually encourage it. America is a land of meanies and weenies. You can’t blame it on immigration either because no one nation has a monopoly on all the jerks in the world. Everywhere has some mean and stupid people. However in America we seem to worship it.
